The Site

The School of Exact and Natural Sciences (FCEN) of the University of Buenos Aires is one of the most important scientific centers of the Argentina housing researchers in all branches of the natural and exact sciences, including Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Atmospheric Sciences. It is composed by 13 departments, and several CONICET (National Research Council of Argentina) institutes, offering an ideal environment for interdisciplinary science. The FCEN hosts several research groups active in the area of Structural Biology, in different institutes and departments. FCEN offers several undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Structural Biology, such as Structure and Function of Biomolecules, Biophysical Chemistry, Advances Simulation Methods, etc.

Research

The FCEN research groups in the area of Structural Biology are active in: i) Structural Bioinformatics, specifically method development and applications in classical atomistic and coarse grained schemes, as well as hybrid QM-MM strategies, structural genomics and drug screening and design. ii) experimental and simulation studies on metalloproteins, such as globins, cytochromes, etc.
